Separate the design tasks

Graphic design can cover campaign creatives, social posts, brand assets and packaging. Web design covers the page structure, the way information is arranged and how the website works on different screen sizes. Some projects need both, but the files and review stages are different.

For a campaign, list each format and where it will appear. For packaging, send the printer’s specifications and approved product information. For a website, list the pages and the main action each page should help a visitor take.

Bring examples and explain your choices

Two or three references are enough when you explain what you like about them. It might be the type, the spacing, the photography or the way a service is explained. “Make it premium” is harder to act on than “keep this page simple and make the contact button easy to find.”

Share your logo, brand colours, fonts, existing work and approved copy. If the brand is still being developed, say so. Creating a visual identity and applying an established identity should be agreed as different pieces of work.

For web design, agree on more than the desktop screen

Ask to see the mobile navigation, a typical content page and a contact flow. A design should make sense to the customer who uses the website, not only to another designer looking at a screenshot.

Clarify whether the work includes design files, a working website, hosting, integrations or ongoing updates. Design and development are not automatically the same service. Forms, content entry and technical setup need their own scope and checks.

Check the work and the handover

Look for relevant work and ask what the designer personally handled. At MaxPe, my freelance role spans app design, brand identity and video content. Earlier at Metasoftech, I worked on product packaging and graphics for Attar Ayurveda and Elecious. Those projects involve different production details.

I’m based in Jaipur and work with teams remotely. If you want to discuss freelance graphic design or web design, send the deliverables, references and deadline. I’ll confirm what I can take on, the review stages and the final files before we start.
